about the artist
Brett Timothy Morrison was born in Phoenix, Arizona on September 3, 1982.
He graduated from Brophy College Prep in 2001 and attended NAU and Scottsdale Community College, majoring in Hotel/Hospitality for three years.
He has always been interested in and appreciated all art forms but has had no formal training. In 2020, he discovered art as a release and path to his recovery from opioid addiction. Through drawing the demons he felt were inside, he has been able to release and recognize the cunning, powerful, and baffling disease of addiction.
His greatest personal challenge has been to remain in recovery from an 18-year (on and off) drug addiction. He spent eleven months in an Arizona prison in 2011. He was instrumental in getting the Phoenix Police to carry Narcan and was instrumental in the passing of a Good Samaritan Law. He was also featured in the “Hooked RX” documentary by the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. He aims to share his story through artwork and help others recognize their demons.
